At the beginning of the year, I said something that still rings true today:
Don’t be intimidated by somebody’s start.
Be impressed by somebody’s finish.
A lot of people start fast.
They come out energized. Focused. Disciplined. Locked in.
For a while, it looks like they can’t be stopped.
But there’s a big difference between starting strong and finishing strong.
And right now, I believe there are two types of people who need this message.
You may be one of them.
Or you may know one of them.
The first person is the one who accomplished something… and got comfortable.
You hit the goal. Closed the deal. Lost the weight. Saved the money. Reached the milestone.
That’s worth celebrating.
But let me remind you of something:
Accomplishment is not arrival.
Too many people mistake progress for the finish line.
They stop doing the very things that got them there.
The discipline fades. The hunger fades. The urgency fades.
And slowly, they lose momentum.
What got you here will need to be multiplied if you want to go higher.
The next level requires a next-level version of you.
The second person is the one who feels behind.
You thought by now it would’ve happened.
The business would be launched. The relationship would be healthy. The breakthrough would’ve come. The dream would be moving faster.
Instead, you’re looking around watching everyone else celebrate.
And if you’re not careful, comparison will convince you to quit.
But hear me clearly:
It often gets hardest right before it becomes possible.
The last stretch is where most people walk away.
The last five pounds. The final few strokes in your golf game. The final chapters of your book.
That’s where separation happens.
That’s where grit matters.
That’s where greatness is built.
YOUR PURSUIT OF GREATNESS
- Don’t let success make you soft. Celebrate your wins—but stay hungry enough to keep growing.
- Don’t let delay make you doubt. Just because it hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.
- Win the final stretch. The moments that tempt you to quit are often the moments that matter most.
Wherever you are today—winning or waiting—keep going.
Don’t slow down because you accomplished something.
Don’t give up because it’s taking longer than expected.
Stay disciplined. Stay encouraged. Stay in the fight.
Don’t you dare quit.
This is your moment. This is your move. This is your pursuit of greatness!
