Are you ready?
The misconception of, I’ll DO IT when I get more money, I’ll do it when I get more time. I’l do it when the time is right.
The truth is, you will never be ready. You can prepare as much as you can beforehand but you won’t ever be READY, until you just jump in with both feet.
What you need:
At first its going to be uncomfortable and YEP, you won’t start out as an expert but you will get better as time goes on and as you gain more experience. - My first speaking engagement, I was sweating, I was nervous and I forgot 75% of the stuff I wanted to say. I wasn’t seasoned and it showed. But after 150+ speaking engagements I don’t sweat like I used to, I remember my key points and not nearly as nervous. It takes time, and you get better with each rep.
Until you commit, you can’t reach your full potential. If you’re half hearted it will show and your authenticity wont be maximized. Everyone is afraid, but your courage will trump your fear because one thing about you is, when you are bold in your actions the results outweigh the negative results. - When I transitioned from football I was afraid because I never did anything else before. I didn’t have the confidence in myself that I was MORE THAN AN ATHLETE. I didn’t give ALL of me to speaking, and it showed. What changed? Me stepping into my fear, facing it head up which showed me, courage is a lot stronger than fear when activated.
People can sense when you love what you do. It’s an energy that you exude. It’s infectious and people are more drawn to you when you absolutely love what you do. - Every time I get the opportunity to speak, there is an energy that fills my soul. There is a switch that flips and when the microphone cuts on it’s like I turn into another person. I’ve been told that I don’t like what I do… I LOVE WHAT I DO! And the truth is, I get to call my PASSION my job.

Character= when applying these steps with action through energy, values and service, a person contributes to any situation.
Good Character Builds the Trust Needed for Success:
When having the goal of leadership in mind, one must lead with integrity and intentions.
This will help you to be more direct and stay focused on the direction, rather than following other people, or making insecure decisions.
This comes from a person’s ethics and values that they believe in and stay true to. Be loyal to your moral code. Your employees and partners will pick up on this and be more supportive, leading them to work towards the vision of the company.
Empathy constantly comes up as a trait needed for leadership. Being empathetic means you see from the point of view of others and that they may act in a different way to how you would in a certain situation.
Tag one person whose character you respect!
